Honky Guitar

This Finnish band called Peer Günt has been touring all over the country for some twenty years now. I guess nowadays there is nothing like it world wide. You can hear influences of the 70's bands like The Pirates, early Dr. Feelgood with Wilko Johnson even early ZZ Top. This is rythm and blues (nothing to do with R&B). One could say this is "speed rythm and blues". It's all about the guitar. It was a pleasure to see that the band's base player was replaced with a more energised young player. The previous one played like a zombie.

They brought up a desibel-meter from somewhere and asked if they were playing too loud. Probably they had exceeded some regulations about loudness. Well, of course they weren't too loud, I still got my hearing the next day :)

A very good gig. One of their lyrics tells it all:
"I don't wanna be a rock'n'roll star
Just wanna play my honky guitar"
I Don't Wanna Be A Rock'n'Roll Star (when they were young) at YouTube

By the way this is a bootleg from a gig at the same place "Klubi".

Oh, and here's my camera shy hon Wii at the backseat :)

Punk Attack

There was a gig of three punk bands at the Klubi (Tampere). The headline "Punk Attack" was name of the set and is somewhat misleading, because the first two bands had neither punk nor attack to my liking. The third band "Relentless" made a great stage presence to the extend that I forgot to actually listen to it.

At least my hearing was slightly dumped and voice broken trying to shout comments to Anna. But where the fucking hell is the rebellion and attitude of the "punk" bands today. And it makes no sense to sing punk in (incomprehensible) English in Finland. You gotta say it in Finnish if you have something to say.
